In a testament to its contributions to health journalism, Health For Mzansi shines once more in the African Digital Media Awards. Notably, the publication returns to defend its title in the Best Podcast category, reflecting its ongoing commitment to excellence.
WAN-IFRA, the global press organisation, has revealed that Health For Mzansi will vie for the title of Africa’s top podcast producer, alongside its sister publication, Food For Mzansi, and Media General from Ghana. These annual awards celebrate excellence in digital media across a diverse range of categories, encompassing creative projects, revenue initiatives, data visualisation, and AI integration.
“Our mission at Health For Mzansi is to be a beacon of health and wellness in every corner of our nation, especially in Kasi communities and underserved areas,” said Ronelle Louwrens, the publisher of Health For Mzansi.
Global recognition
The 2024 African Digital Media Awards have convened a diverse panel of judges hailing from various corners of the globe, each bringing a wealth of expertise to the table. With representatives from France to Uganda, Mauritius to the United Kingdom, esteemed figures like Valérie Arnould, Katarzyna Ostrowska, and Professor George Nyabuga embody a global perspective on digital media excellence.
Meanwhile, Louwrens has praised her colleagues at Food For Mzansi Group for securing an impressive five nominations in this year’s competition, including the recognition for Health For Mzansi. Alongside Daily Maverick, Food For Mzansi Group leads the pack with five nominations each, showcasing their excellence in a competition that highlights media brilliance across South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, and Tunisia.
Netwerk24 in South Africa garnered four nominations, while both Media Hack Collective in South Africa and InfoNile in Uganda earned two nominations each.
Additionally, several media houses earn single nominations, including Mangeons bien in Tunisia, Sports Brief in Nigeria, MarkLives in South Africa, Media General in Ghana, Briefly News in South Africa, CITE in Zimbabwe, AFP Africa in Nigeria, and Legit.ng in Nigeria.
The winners of the 2024 African Digital Media Awards will be announced on Monday, 16 April 2024.
